Racing United eye play-off spot in match against Harbour View
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Racing United could return to a play-off position in the Jamaica Premier League on Wednesday if they can beat relegation-threatened Harbour View FC in their third-round game at Harbour View, set to kick off at 3:30 pm.
Racing United are in eighth position on 44 points from 31 points and a win would see them move past Tivoli Gardens in sixth place with a game still in hand.
Two other games are scheduled for Wednesday — leaders Mt Pleasant FA will hope to snap a two games losing skid when they play away to last placed Vere United at Wembley Centre of Excellence and fourth placed Portmore United hosts 13th placed Molynes United at Ferdie Neita Park.
Racing United have impressed in their first season in the JPL and is part of a three team race for a place in the play-offs along with Tivoli Gardens and Waterhouse FC, all separated by two points.
Harbour View, facing relegation, are in 10th position on 31 points, just two points from the drop zone and will hope for an upset win.
The teams had split their first two games with Harbour View winning 3-1 the last time they met in March.
At Wembley, Mt Pleasant FA are expected to pile on even more miseries on Vere United who on Sunday were officially eliminated from play-offs contention and another couple of losses could cement their relegation at the end of the season.
Mt Pleasant FA who have earned just a point from their last two games had won both previous games against Vere United this season 4-1 and 6-0.
Portmore United have not scored in their last two games and will hope to get back on the scoring sheet against Molynes United who have conceded 14 goals in their last five games.
