#Champs2025: Hydel’s Daley stands out with 200m gold as girls deliver sprint doubles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three female 100m champions completed sprint doubles on Saturday’s final day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships but it was Hydel High’s Jody-Ann Daley who stood out as she took the Class One 100m hurdles and 200m gold medals in less than two hours.
Muschett High’s Shanoya Douglas won the Class Two sprint double, St Jago’s Shannia Campbell won in Class Three and Holmwood Technical’s Adalia Simpson won in Class Four.
More impressively for Daley is that she denied Lacovia High’s outstanding Sabrina Dockery the double as she streaked to a fine 23.53 seconds (-2.3m/s) to take the gold after earlier winning the sprint hurdle.
Dockery, the 100m winner on Wednesday, who only got into the final after her disqualification in the semi-finals was overturned after a protest, was second with 23.63 seconds while Shemonique Hazle of Hydel took the bronze with 24.01 seconds.
Douglas defended her title after running 23.30 seconds (-2.6m/s), Natrece East of Wolmer’s Girls, who was second in the 100m, took a second silver with 24.05 seconds while Sashana Johnson of Hydel High, who was second in the 400m, took the bronze with 24.07 seconds.
