#Champs2025: Holmwood’s Cindy Rose cops gold in girls’ Class 1 800m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Holmwood Technical’s Cindy Rose won the first individual gold by any of a trio of Rose sisters after she took the girls’ Class One 800m on Saturday’s final day of the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
After a series of silver medals in the 1500m, Cindy ran 2:10.59 to win the gold, just ahead of her teammate Florence Nafamba who ran 2:12.03 with Edwin Allen’ Monique Stewart third in 2:14.38.
Alikay Reynolds of Alphansus Davis completed the Class Two 800/1500m double when she won the two lap race in 2:11.58, ahead of Jovi Rose who ran 2:12.78 with Edwin Allen’s Kevongaye Fowler taking the bronze medal with 2:13.97.
Edwin Allen were first and second in the Class Three 800m final after Aneka Lowe won the event with 2:16.36 and Romeann Gray was second with 2:16.45 while Holmwood Technical’s Kerrita Rose placed third in 2:20.30.
