THE Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ), through its Boosting Innovation, Growth and Entrepreneurship Ecosystems (BIGEE) programme, recently hosted the Boost Her Biz pitch sessions and awards ceremony at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) head office in Kingston.
The event, which marked a significant milestone in DBJ’s ongoing commitment to fostering women’s economic empowerment, further expanded access to financial support for female entrepreneurs. Of the more than 100 applications from dynamic, women-led businesses across diverse industries spanning professional services, agriculture, information technology, distribution, and health and wellness four outstanding finalists pitched their ventures to a panel of esteemed judges, following which two secured the top spots. The entities, Cradle of Life Limited and Dr Kai Morgan & Associates, on emerging as the grand prize winners each secured $1 million to propel their businesses forward.
The other two contestants — Pro Emmaculate Cleaners and Claumas Distributors Limited — though failing to advance to the top spots, also pitched innovative ventures which showcased the strength and potential of Jamaica’s women entrepreneurs.
