#Champs2025: ‘Big three’ lead in sprint relay qualifiers
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The “Big Three” — Kingston College, Calabar High and Jamaica College are safely through to all four sprint relay finals set for Saturday’s final session of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
With the predictions for a close finish, relay points could prove vital for all three schools who are expected to be battling for the championships and all three were in the top three in all three classes on Thursday’s qualifying.
Calabar High led in all three classes and their Class One teams’ 40.01 seconds was the fastest followed by Jamaica College’s 40.05 seconds and Kingston College’s 40.11 seconds. They were followed by Excelsior High with 40.40 seconds and Edwin Allen High with 40.13 seconds.
Calabar High ran 41.47 seconds in Class Two, Kingston College were next with 41.67 seconds, Jamaica College with 41.76 seconds while Wolmer’s Boys ran 41.95 seconds and Petersfield High ran 41.76 seconds.
The Calabar High Class Three team ran 43.20 seconds, with Kingston College clocking 43.60 seconds and Jamaica College 43.93 while St Jago High ran 44.12 seconds and Edwin Allen High 45.04 seconds.
