World Indoors: Pinnock earns silver in long jump
Wayne Pinnock completed a full set of silver medals after he was second in the men’s long jump at the World Athletics Indoor Championships with a season’s best 8.29m in a stirring competition at the Nanjing Cube in Nanjing, China on Sunday.
Pinnock, who was second at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in 2023 and at the Olympic Games in Paris last year, was just edged for the gold by Italian prodigy Mattia Furlani who jumped 8.30m. Australia’s Liam Adcock took the bronze with 8.28m.
Greece’s Miltiadis Tentoglou, the defending champion as well as world and Olympic champion, finished in fifth place with a best of 8.14m while Jamaica’s other representative, Tajay Gayle, was 10th with 7.83m.
