Frazsiers Whip beat Springers 8-0 in JWPL
ST JAMES, Jamaica — National representative Davia Richards scored a hat-trick to lead defending champions Frazsiers Whip to their fourth straight victory in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League, beating Springers United 8-0 at the Granville Community Centre on Saturday.
Nevillegail Able also got a second half brace for Frazsiers Whip who have amassed 28 goals in their four games played so far.
Frazsiers Whip led 4-0 at halftime, with Richards scoring twice including a penalty as they raced to 12 points at the top of the points tables, two more than Cavalier SC who beat Proven Girls 3-1. Los Perfects are third with nine points after their 5-0 win over Real MoBay AFC with Wifi in fourth place on seven points after blanking Federal United 2-0.
In other games played Saturday, UWI Women blanked Arnett Gardens 3-0.
At Granville, it took Frazsiers Whip all of 16 minutes to break down Springers United when an accidental handball inside the six yards box resulted in a penalty which Richards dispatched and the flood gates opened up.
Cassandra Smith added a second goal in the 26th minute when she beat teenaged goalkeeper Sadikue Woolery with a looping shot from outside the area.
Latoya Duhaney made it 3-0 in the 31st minute when her shot was deflected past Woolery who then saved Richards’ penalty attempt, but the experienced striker calmly snapped up the rebound and fired it back into the goal in the 40th minute.
Able got her first goal of the game in the 58th minute and then completed her brace in the 70th minute.
Richards completed her hat-trick when she scored in the 81st minute to make the score 7-0 before substitute Shauna-Kay Chambers added another goal in the 89th minute.
