World Indoors: Rohan Watson advances to 60m semis
Rohan Watson advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 60m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships after winning his first round heat with 6.54 seconds on Friday in Nanjing, China.
Watson got off to a fast start and won the final first round heat to book an automatic spot into the semi-final set for around 7:00am Jamaican time on Friday.
He had the fourth fastest time of the round as Puerto Rico’s Eloy Benitez ran a national record 6.49 seconds, followed by Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy- 6.52 seconds and Great Britain’s European Indoor Champion Jeremiah Azu was next with 6.53 seconds.
Watson’s training partner Nishion Ebanks fell agonisingly short of making the semis as he missed advancing by one spot, his 6.70 seconds for third in his heat saw him being edged out by two other athletes who were given the same time.
