McCalla, King to start in Gold Cup qualifier against St Vincent and Grenadines
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Local-based players Sue-Lae McCalla and Richard King have been included in Jamaica’s starting team to face St Vincent and the Grenadines in the first leg of their CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifying game to be played at Arnos Vale on Friday.
McCalla and King were among 10 local- based players who were named in the squad for the two- game series that will see the return leg being played at Sabina Park on Tuesday.
The players had caught the eye of coach Steve McClaren during the two-game friendly series against Trinidad and Tobago last month.
There is still a strong overseas presence in the team as Shamar Nicholson, who is on loan to Maxican Liga MX club Tijuana, and English Premier League players Leon Bailey of Aston Villa and Bobby Reid of Leicester City are also in the starting team.
