‘Choose Jamaica’
PM outlines Government’s record of achievements in pitch for third term
Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness on Thursday launched a staunch defence of the work of his Government over the past eight years, saying that the Administration has transformed Jamaica from the brink of economic collapse into the strongest economy since Independence.
“We have conquered the challenges of macroeconomic stability and debt reduction — hard-fought victories that have freed us from the cycle of crisis after crisis,” Holness said in his contribution to the 2025/26 Budget Debate and made a pitch to Jamaicans to return the Government to office in the upcoming general election.
“This is a year of decision, when you will be called upon to make a choice. For the first time a prospectus has been placed before you, not a manifesto, not a promise of what we intend to do, but a prospectus, a dissertation of what we have done,” he said.
“The choice of selecting a Government is always an emotional one. Sometimes it can be as emotional as your connection to a football team, but the consequence of supporting the wrong football team cannot compare to the anguish that you will suffer if you support the wrong Government.
“I’ve given you the information on which you can make your rational decision. I urge Jamaicans, in this year of decision, to choose wisely, choose rationally, I urge you, choose Jamaica,” he said.
