Three people arrested and charged in St Mary
ST MARY, Jamaica —Three people were arrested and charged after they were allegedly found with lottery scamming paraphernalia, illegal weapons and uncustomed goods in St Mary on Sunday.
Charged are 22-year-old Alex Robinson of Almond Tree, Gayle; 46-year-old Kera Sterling of Bailey’s Vale and 59-year-old Donovan Olphinant of Bailey’s Vale, all of St Mary.
Robinson is charged with possession of identity information, while Sterling is charged with possession of an offensive weapon. Olphinant is charged with possession of uncustomed goods.
Their court dates are being arranged.
According to reports from the St Mary police, the arrests follow a joint police/military operation conducted in the communities of Bailey’s Vale, Gayle, Oracabessa and Port Maria in the parish.
During the operations, several premises were searched and several road block operations were conducted.
During the operations, the three were arrested and subsequently charged following interviews conducted in the presence of their attorneys.
Additionally, 36 tickets were issued for breaches of the Road Traffic Act and six motor vehicles were seized during the operations.
