DJs showdown March 15 at D’Aftermas
Campus Elite introduces Red Bull Selector set for UWI Carnival
Jamaica’s only college lifestyle brand, Campus Elite, has teamed up with Red Bull Jamaica for a revolutionary event, Red Bull Selector.
Its aim is to showcase the versatility of disc jocks (DJs) in the region.
The showdown is set to take place at Campus Elite’s annual UWI Carnival after party, D’Aftermas, on March 15, 2025, and will provide the ultimate test for the DJs to showcase their skills.
Red Bull Selector boasts a unique twist as, unlike other events, the audience dictates what is played, forcing the DJs to display their creativity. Patrons will have the opportunity to determine the musical direction in real time with the use of red and blue voting tools, shifting between genres as the night progresses.
“This event is a game changer as patrons will now hold the power in choosing what genre they want to hear throughout the duration of the event. The disc jocks are going to have to be prepared for anything, as this challenges them, not knowing what selection will be made by the patrons, and also, by way of doing this, each performance holds a level of unpredictability that is rare,” shared CEO of Campus Elite Sandre Malcolm.
Hosted by the energetic “Road Marshall”, this year’s event will be headlined by Jamaican powerhouse duo Silent Addy and Creep Chromatic, who goes by Silent Matic, as well as renowned soca DJ and producer Travis World, representing the respective islands of Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
“I think Red Bull Selector will be one of those moments: An all-star Caribbean DJ cast hosted by Jamaica’s top touring MC means a little bit of everything for the patrons. No island will be left behind, because there will always be someone on stage representing,” explained Brush1.
Both Travis World and Silent Matic are decorated disc jocks who have garnered many accolades over the years. Travis was nominated in 2024 as the International DJ of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards and has produced top soca hits for a number of hugely successful artistes, among them Machel Montano, Patrice Roberts and Destra Garcia.
Meanwhile, originator of Jamaica’s legendary sound system Chromatic, Creep Chromatic has graced major stages both locally and internationally, including Coachella, SOLE Dubai, and Boiler Room, spreading dancehall music and culture globally. His work as a DJ and tastemaker has been co-signed by bookings with international artistes such as Drake, Cardi B, and Dua Lipa. Completing the duo, Silent Addy is a DJ, music and event producer, solidifying the cultural connection between Kingston, Jamaica, and Miami, Florida. He is best known for performing large-scale music events around the world, and has served as the disc jock for dancehall artistes J Capri and Chi Ching Ching, and has produced hits for Jamaican superstar Popcaan, amongst others.
With the continued demand for more creativity and spontaneity in the Jamaican party scene, Campus Elite and Red Bull Selector are excited to see this event’s success. This event’s crowd-driven concept explores the broader trend of interactive entertainment, engaging attendees in a way that traditional performances have never done, especially in Jamaica.
