Bogue FC fined $50K
ST JAMES, Jamaica- Bogue FC have been fined $50,000 by the St James Football Association after they failed to show up for their Sandals Resorts Major League return round game against Wadada United at the Mt Salem Community Centre on Sunday, February 23.
According to a release from the St James FA, pursuant to Article 7.5 of the St James Football Association Competitions and Regulations Committee, Bogue FC had fallen foul of their laws and were fined and referred to the St James Football Association’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for further actions to be taken in accordance with Article 69.
The FA declared that Bogue FC who showed up with just five players, two short of the minimum required by FIFA, had forfeited the game which was awarded to Wadada United by a 3-0 margin.
Additionally the release said, “Please note that the fine must be paid promptly, and the club will be notified of the date and time for the disciplinary committee hearing.”
Bogue FC were at the foot of the tables in Zone A on three points, winning just one of their seven games played while the points put Wadada United into second place on 14 points and a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Zone leaders Reggae Youths who have already qualified for the semi-finals with 15 points will face third-placed Lilliput Rovers who are on 13 and must get at least a draw to beat Wadada United on goal-difference for second place.
