Man referred to mediation after destroying ex-girlfriend’s phone
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man who admitted to malicious destruction of property was referred to mediation with his ex-girlfriend after appearing in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Paul Davis was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property following an altercation with his ex-girlfriend.
It is alleged that during an argument, Davis rushed his ex-girlfriend and struck her in the face. He then allegedly grabbed her Samsung A21 smartphone and smashed it on the ground. The phone was valued at $14,000.
Appearing before Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell, Davis pleaded guilty to the charge of malicious destruction of property but denied the assault charge.
Judge Burrell asked Davis if he had brought the money to compensate for the phone to which he responded that he didn’t know he was supposed to bring the money.
The judge then referred both parties to mediation, with a case management date set for March 7.
