KINGSTON, Jamaica — A Chinese man is scheduled to return to the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on May 5 to stand trial concerning the absence of $40 million in granulated sugar from Seprod Limited.
The trial will run from May 5 to May 8, 2025.
The date was set on Tuesday when XiaoKoy Yuan appeared before Senior Parish Court Judge Sanchia Burrell. Yuan is accused of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to defraud in relation to the matter.
According to court documents, the $40 million in granulated sugar was accumulated over a year. While the sugar was not found in Yuan’s possession, the complainant accused Yuan of duplicating invoices to hide his scheme.
