Police kill alleged armed man during operation in Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Police shot and killed a man, who reportedly pointed a firearm at them, during an intelligence-led operation on Wednesday morning in Franklyn Town, Kingston.
The deceased man has not yet been identified.
Reports are that the police were conducting an operation in search of gunmen aligned with the Night Time Brawling gang when the incident occurred.
The deceased man is suspected to be an affiliate of Errol Williams aka ‘Fluxsy’, an alleged high ranking member of the Night Time Brawling gang based in Swallowfield.
The police said they were in the process of clearing the downstairs section of a building when they were surprised by a man armed with a gun which he pointed in their direction. The police took action and opened gunfire hitting the unidentified male in the upper body.
The injured man was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where he was pronounced dead.
A .38 revolver which was loaded with six cartridges was also seized following the fatal shooting, police said.
