Jazz in the Gardens makes grand return
After facing postponement last year due to inclement weather, Jazz in the Gardens: The Best of 2024 made an extraordinary comeback at the Jamaica Pegasus, on Sunday, drawing a packed audience of jazz lovers eager to experience an unforgettable night of world-class performances.
The evening was expertly hosted by MC Vernon Darby, who set the perfect tone before introducing cabaret sensation Tammy T in a striking yellow ensemble and backed by the legendary Fab 5.
Tammy T captivated the audience with a soulful rendition of No One in The World.
The enchantment continued with Soulchild Tanice who, dressed in a stunning red sequin gown, delivered a breathtaking performance of Time to Say Goodbye, leaving the crowd in awe. Background vocalist Lisa Davis provided seamless support, adding depth and richness to the night’s musical experience.
A significant moment of the evening came when Shikima Hinds took the stage to present donations to the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation, V.O.U.C.H and The Best Care Foundation, reaffirming the event’s commitment to philanthropy and community support. She shared: “We are very happy to be a part of the upliftment, and all our patrons are integral in contributing to that effort.”
The excitement escalated when Everton Pessoa & His Big Band made a grand entrance with their signature performance of A Train and getting guests dancing with an electrifying rendition of I’m Still in Love With You.
The magic of the night continued with celebrated jazz vocalist Bunny Rose, who serenaded the audience with renditions of timeless classics such as Sound of Silence and You Are the Reason, creating an atmosphere of pure musical bliss.
Bringing the evening to an unforgettable close, the incomparable Gem Myers delivered a powerful and emotional performance of You’re Gonna Love Me, followed by a soulful rendition of the Pointer Sisters’
Slow Hand.
